How long after baddies are deleted do scores go up?

Is it right away?

FICO is determined by what is on your report, so if it's gone then your score could change. But you should know that deleting baddies could make your score go down....

Bump

Executor is right -- it depends heavily on many items. If your score has a lot of baddies, the threshold of change from losing one may not have a positive gain on your scores. Yet if the one tradeline that is deleted is your oldest tradeline, and you have nothing else old, your score can and will fall because the age of your accounts will shrink.FICO is a complicated beast. Deleting baddies IN THE LONG RUN will of course increase your score IN THE LONG RUN. What also matters is not having too many inquiries, not having too many new accounts, not having high utilization (0%, 10%, 30% in that order from best to least best) and paying your most recent bills on time (within 2 years). As bad things age, they effect your scores the least, as good things age, they can effect your scores the most. New good things effect your score little, new bad things effect your score the most.

As soon as MyFICO reflects those changes, your score COULD change. Keep in mind that FICO is a complicated algorithm; deleting a baddie could just as easily decrease your score as it could increase it. By that token, your score might not change one bit.

All of the previous posts are correct...let me put this wayA 620-640 with a few baddies is WORST than a 600 score with no baddies. Remember credit repair isRepair, Delete AND Rebuild...as u remove the negs, you will need to add positive trade lines to increase your scores. Now you may look at my sig and say "so why isnt he following his own advice?" because I can afford to wait and I refuse to deal with subprime lenders, in 9-10 mos nearly all of my baddies will fall off no matter what I do.. ive seen my scores go down after deleting a baddie. I didnt care because the baddie was GONE

Hopelesscred: I'm in the same boat. My FICOs were gorgeous up to 2002, then they fell bad through 2003, and stayed bad. Most of my baddies will be out of SOL this year, so I'm in no rush. I make decent money, have AU on two 5-figure CLs, own my home and car, and have no real NEED for credit right now. The only reason I want to raise my FICOs is so my insurance rates fall and so I can take advantage of some 0% financing offers from time-to-time (although in MOST cases I get a much better cash discount if I negotiate, so that's not a big deal).Having bad credit has one nice side effect: you can't live beyond your means!

Yep...have a mortgage reporting perfect payment history for 9 years, after rehab should also have a nice instalment SL loan with good history...then I will spring for a secured card with WF...and build from there..Will need a car soon, but prepared to pay cash for a used vehicle... if the deal is not rightNo real need for new credit now, and dont want load my CR with a bunch of sub/mid-prime of cards---just because. Once score improves and rehab is done, I will add a few more TLs.

So what constitutes a "new" account? Within the last 12 months, 6 months?

anything under 12 mos would be considered new, but most people do get a FICO bump after six mos and another at 12 mos. YMMV of course especially if the avg age of other acts in your file is much older.

Thanks Hopeless
